RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
Duties: Vice President with Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC in Salt Lake City, UT. Support the municipal bond trading desk within Goldman Sachs Asset Management. Provide start of day cash, positions, and municipal market rates information to portfolio managers for portfolio construction, duration monitoring, cash management, and tax loss harvesting. Maintain and update internal security details with IDC/Bloomberg pricing data in a timely and accurate manner. Manage the flow of communication of investment strategy and portfolio positioning between the portfolio management team and the private wealth advisors, utilizing knowledge of financial markets and municipal securities. Organize bid-wanted auction on Bloomberg to brokers and dealers in the municipal market to assist portfolio managers with bond selling activities and tax loss harvesting opportunities. Propose buy and sell trading candidates to portfolio managers and negotiate with broker dealers to purchase suitable bonds for client portfolios. Assist portfolio managers with trading in new issuances in the municipal market by providing accurate pricing, scale, and credit rating information as well as obtaining compliance approval for the team to participate in newly issued deals. Perform investment analysis on portfolios from potential clients and provide commentary on the prospect portfolio’s state allocation, position size, coupon structure, maturity profile, credit rating, and sector allocation. Assist portfolio managers with trade booking and trade discrepancy reconciliation. Utilize MS Excel modeling and VBA to reengineer and automate current buying and tax loss harvesting processes for portfolio managers to enhance efficiency. Drive initiatives and projects to deliver solutions to resolve inefficiency in trade booking, position reporting, position analysis, and communication across multiple teams.
Job Requirements:Master’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Accounting, Business, Economics, Finance, or a related field, with four (4) years of experience in the job offered or a related financial analysis position within the financial services industry OR Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Accounting, Business, Economics, Finance, or a related field, with six (6) years of experience in the job offered or a related financial analysis position within the financial services industry. Must have four (4) years (if Master’s) or six (6) years (if Bachelor’s) of experience with: Utilizing MS Excel, Bloomberg, and trade flow platforms to consolidate data, perform daily tasks relating to support of buy side bond portfolio managers and traders, and share information across brokers/dealers, client middle office, private wealth advisors and trading back office; Utilizing fixed income market and product information, including duration, credit rating, maturity profile, and coupon structure to assist portfolio managers/traders/middle office with client portfolio analyses, daily portfolio management, and client inquiries; Managing multiple tasks under market deadlines (DTC settlement deadline), and responding to ad hoc inquiries or requests by various stakeholders to ensure proper and timely trade flow and settlement; Utilizing client service skills to effectively manage client/portfolio manager/trader/middle office/back office requests and updates in the asset management due diligence space; Participating in and leading initiatives and projects across various teams to resolve issues and improve efficiency in trade flow, trade management and trade booking space; and Utilizing MS Excel modeling and VBA to re-engineer and improve processes. Must have one (1) year (if Master’s) or three (3) years (if Bachelor’s) of experience with: Interaction with the municipal bond industry, including organizing municipal bond bid wanted process on Bloomberg, working directly with municipal mutual fund portfolio managers and separately managed accounts portfolio managers on positions/cash management and municipal new issuance, and working with bond brokers/dealers on bond purchases and sales. Licenses Required: FINRA Series 7 and Series 63.
